InspectConnect is operated by Salus Ventures ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our platform and services ("Service"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data transparently.
By using the Service, you consent to the data practices described in this policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Service.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly to us, including:
- Account Information: Name and email address when you create an account via Google OAuth or email magic link. We do not collect or store passwords as our platform uses passwordless authentication exclusively.
- Profile Information: Your selected role (homebuyer, realtor, contractor, or property manager), and any additional profile details you provide such as business name, license numbers, or service areas.
- Property Information: Property addresses and details associated with inspection reports.
- Uploaded Documents: Home inspection reports (PDFs) that you upload for analysis.
- Communication Data: Messages exchanged with contractors, realtors, and other users through our platform.
- Contractor Credentials: For contractor accounts: license numbers, insurance policy information, and verification documentation.
We also collect information automatically when you use the Service:
- Usage Data: Pages visited, features used, and interactions with the platform.
- Device Information: Browser type, operating system, and device identifiers.
- Log Data: IP addresses, access times, and referring URLs.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Process and analyze your inspection reports using artificial intelligence
- Provide issue prioritization, cost estimates, and negotiation guidance
- Identify required trades and match you with verified contractors in your area
- Facilitate communication between homebuyers, realtors, and contractors
- Verify contractor licenses and insurance credentials
- Send you service-related notifications, updates, and transactional emails
- Improve, maintain, and develop new features for the Service
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or security incidents
- Comply with legal obligations
4. AI and Third-Party Data Processing
To provide our core analysis features, your uploaded inspection reports are processed by third-party artificial intelligence services, including AI models provided by Anthropic (Claude). This processing is used to extract findings, categorize issues, estimate costs, identify required trades, and generate summaries.
Important: Your inspection report data sent to AI services is used solely for generating your analysis results. It is processed via API and is not used to train AI models. We do not permit our AI service providers to use your data for model training or any purpose other than providing the requested analysis.
5. Information Sharing
We do not share your personal information with contractors or other users until you explicitly approve a connection. Specifically, we may share your information with:
- Contractors: When you request quotes and explicitly approve a contractor connection, we share relevant issue details and property information with the contractors you select. Your contact information is only shared after you explicitly approve a contractor.
- Realtors: When you choose to share your report with your realtor.
- AI Service Providers: Anthropic (Claude) for inspection report analysis, as described in Section 4.
- Infrastructure Providers: Vercel (hosting and deployment), Neon (database), Resend (transactional email), Inngest (background job processing), and Stripe (payment processing, when applicable).
- Analytics Providers: Services that help us understand usage patterns and improve the platform.
- Legal Requirements: When required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
We never sell your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
6. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:
- Encryption of all data in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest
- Secure cloud infrastructure hosted on Vercel and Neon with regular security audits
- Passwordless authentication (OAuth and magic link) eliminating password-related vulnerabilities
- Role-based access controls limiting data visibility to authorized users
- Regular security assessments and dependency updates
- Session management with automatic expiration and secure cookie handling
7. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Specifically:
- Account data: Retained while your account is active. Deleted upon account deletion request.
- Uploaded reports and analysis: Retained while your account is active. Deleted upon account deletion request.
- Communication logs: Retained for 24 months after last activity, then anonymized.
- Audit and security logs: Retained for up to 36 months for security and compliance purposes.
You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time through your account settings or by contacting us. We will process deletion requests within thirty (30) days of receipt.
8. Your Rights Under GDPR and CCPA
Depending on your location, you may have specific rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), or other applicable privacy laws, including the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information
- Portability: Export your data in a portable, machine-readable format
- Opt-out: Opt out of certain data processing activities, including the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information)
- Non-discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights

9. Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:
- Essential Cookies: Required for authentication, session management, and core platform functionality. These cannot be disabled.
- Analytics Cookies: Help us understand how users interact with the Service so we can improve it. These can be declined.
We do not use marketing or advertising cookies. You can manage cookie preferences through the cookie banner displayed on your first visit or through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may prevent you from using the Service.
10. Data Breach Notification
In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you via email within seventy-two (72) hours of becoming aware of the breach. The notification will include: the nature of the breach, the types of data affected, the measures we are taking to address the breach, and recommended steps you can take to protect yourself. We will also notify applicable regulatory authorities as required by law.
11. Children's Privacy
Our Service is not intended for children under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 18, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
12. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States, where our servers and service providers are located. We ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers in compliance with applicable data protection laws.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. For material changes, we will notify you by email or through a prominent notice on the Service at least fourteen (14) days before the changes take effect. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
